The team of the project funded by the European Union LIFE GreenMe5 and led by the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia, has met in the Swedish city of Helsingborg for the celebration of the Green Innovation Camp initiative, belonging to the project focused on the Green Cities Agreement, and its axes of action, water, air, noise, waste, nature and biodiversity.

This meeting focused on urban noise, one of the causes of the greatest loss of quality of life and health problems in European cities.
In addition to the five partner cities of the project, some of Sweden’s leading experts in the field participated in the event, presenting first-hand pioneering experiences and innovative solutions to mitigate noise pollution in urban environments.
This meeting focused on urban noise, one of the main causes of loss of quality of life and health problems in European cities.
In addition to the five partner cities of the project, some of Sweden’s leading experts in the field participated in the event, presenting first-hand pioneering experiences and innovative solutions to mitigate noise pollution in urban environments. Some of these solutions are based on nature, such as vegetation barriers, noise-absorbing asphalt pavements or urban planning. In addition, among the actions envisaged by LIFE GreenMe5, public awareness campaigns will be carried out and measurement technologies through smart sensors and real-time data analysis were presented as case studies with striking results in improving the quality of life of citizens.

Active participation in this type of European project allows the partners, Murcia, Cieza, Helsingborg, Vilnius and Arezzo, to be in direct contact with the leading cities, the best experts and the necessary solutions in each of the five pillars of the Green City Accord, which facilitates the incorporation of innovative techniques in the local urban management of our cities.
The participating cities thus reinforce their commitment to urban sustainability, aligning themselves with European guidelines and adapting international best practices to the reality of their municipalities in order to improve the quality of life of their citizens.
