Murcia City Council holds Green Innovation Camp on quality and efficient water use

Partners of the EU-funded LIFE Green Me 5 project meet in Murcia for project coordination meeting

The City Council of Murcia has been in charge, on this occasion, of organizing and holding in the city the Green Innovation Camp, an event focused on water quality and its efficient use. This entity, a member of the partnership of the project in which this event is framed, LIFE GreenMe5, has brought together the other partners of the various cities of Europe to expose them, through experts in the field, innovations in water, such as researchers from the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, representatives of Aguas de Murcia and Aguas de Alicante, specialized consultants Eurovértice, etc.

The event was opened by the secretary general of the Federation of Municipalities, leader of the project, Antonio Moreno, and the councillors of Murcia City Council, Mercedes Bernabé and Antonio Navarro, in front of more than 50 people attending the meeting.

The Green Innovation Camps are thematic workshops that, focused on one of the five pillars of the Green City Accord, promote the improvement of environmental management. For the technical staff of the municipalities of the regions participating in the project, it is an opportunity to explore other geographical contexts and share good practices and ideas.

In this case, experts and managers of European municipalities have discussed aspects such as water efficiency, reuse and citizen campaigns for water saving.

The LIFE GreenMe5 project aims to implement the Green City Accord, promoting multi-governance and the exchange of knowledge between municipalities to implement more ambitious local environmental policies.

The project is coordinated by the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia and the municipalities of Cieza and Murcia (Spain), Arezzo (Italy), Vilnius (Lithuania) and Helsingborg (Sweden) are also part of this project co-financed by the LIFE EuroVértice program.
